Entry to the competition is free. Any entrant found abusing, misappropriating and/or falsifying the competition and/or related equipment, in any manner, will be removed from the competition and forfeit any relevant prizemoney due. The promoter reserves the right not to accept any registration for any entrant if the registration contains anything defamatory or is otherwise offensive or inappropriate in any way. Entrant information is used by the promoter to assess and process competition registrations. The promoter is ESPN Australia Pty Ltd. ABN 40 091 402 327 of Level 3, 68 York St, Sydney, NSW, 2000 Australia.
The competition administrator reserves the rights to configure the tipping competition preferences in the best interests of the competition and its entrants, as deemed necessary.
The submitting of tips, viewing of results, competition ladders and other information can be done at https://www.footytips.com.au
It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure all tips are placed before each scheduled game kick off. Tipping closes for each match at the scheduled time of commencement ie: if a game starts at 7:00pm, you are able to enter your tips up until 6:59pm. However, it is recommended that you allow ample time to enter your selections to prevent you from being locked out. Under no circumstances will tips be accepted after a game has commenced. If tippers do not enter tips for a game, round or join after the season has commenced they will be allocated the default score.
Draws cannot be selected. Tipping is limited to the NRL regular season and state of origin games. An entrant may make or change a tip for a given match in a round at any time prior to the scheduled starting time of that match.
Rankings & Margin
For each round entrants are required to select a margin for one game. Enter the amount you think your selected team will win by. This must be a whole number e.g. 7 points and not a range eg: 10-20 points. Your weekly margin which you receive for the round is the number between your selected and the actual margin for the game. For example, if you pick Team A to beat Team B by 8 points and Team A wins by 5 points your weekly margin will be 3. Each round, your weekly margin is added to form your total or cumulative margin. ESPN uses the margin system to rank tippers who share the same number of correct tips. Therefore, the lower your total margin is, the higher you will rank. Tippers will be firstly ranked by their weekly score, where the highest score is the highest rank. In the case where an entrant fails to submit a tip for a margin game, their margin tipped for that margin game will be deemed to be zero (0).
Weekly winners will be determined by the user’s weekly score for the round, then by a tippers round margin and then by their total margin.
End of season winners will be determined by total score, and then by their total margin (and if drawn the round margin for that round). The total margin is the total to date of the weekly margins for all rounds in the tipping competition.
