The Travel Club has been affiliated with Penshurst RSL since May 2002 and, since then, we’ve had some wonderful times, mostly domestic trips but we’ve ventured overseas as well. We are indeed fortunate to still have many original members, so we must be doing something right!
Each year, there are several reasonably-priced day trips offered – approximately one per month and a comfortable coach is used for these outings. Unless otherwise advertised, morning tea and lunch is included in the price. Theatre parties are also organised to a good number of shows visiting Sydney and, as we normally attend matinees and it’s much cheaper to do so, we catch public transport to the theatre.
There are usually a couple of longer tours each year – in 2019 there will be three, plus a two-day Christmas in July weekend to Bathurst (opening in February). The first extended tour is six days to the ACT in April which is already fully booked. Also full is the 11 days to Cairns and Gulf Savannah country in June. However, a nine-day trip to Broken Hill has just been organised from 14 October and for a pleasant change we’ll be travelling each way by train and using a coach during our stay. Day trips and theatre parties must be paid in full at the time of booking, but extended tours may be paid over several months. Unfortunately, the Travel Club does not have credit card/EFTPOS facilities, but does accept cash or preferably cheques.
We are always happy for new members to join us, but they do need to be a member of Penshurst RSL Club first. An application form will need to be completed and an annual fee of $6 is charged (covers 1 July – 30 June) and may be submitted at either of the following meetings:
First Wednesday of the month, from 6.45 pm in the Club’s Auditorium
Third Monday of each month from 5 – 6 pm. Committee members will be in the Club’s Bistro.
